Dental fillings are made from silver amalgam or composite. They are placed into a prepared cavity in a single visit.

A crown is a restoration used to strengthen a tooth and improve its shape and contours. Most often, crowns are used for teeth that are fractured, decayed, worn, or have been previously treated with a root canal.

Dentures are used to replace missing teeth. They can replace all the teeth on an arch (complete denture), some of the teeth (partial denture) or only 1-2 teeth on the same side (unilateral partial denture).

When a tooth can no longer be restored or has become fully compromised, extraction is necessary. When a tooth needs to be removed, your dentist may extract the tooth during a regular checkup or may schedule another visit for this procedure.

Early periodontal (or gum disease) can be treated with scaling and cleaning at three or four month intervals. Periodontal condition is determined at the initial visit and maintained or improved at future appointments.

Dental implants are artificial roots (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into areas of a missing teeth. Dental crowns are then attached to the implants and are very natural looking and feel almost exactly like your own teeth.

If a tooth becomes cracked or extensively decayed, bacteria can enter the pulp tissue and germs can cause an infection or severe inflammation inside the tooth. While they have a bad reputation, root canals are now painless with effective anesthetics.
